To change visibility settings for reading posts, click the Posts button under the Settings tab of the control panel. The possible settings are:
All visitors (no password required)
Anyone who visits your class blogs can read content without entering a password.
Class members only
Only members of the class are allowed to log in and view posts. Guest accounts are included as class members.
Teacher only
Only the teacher is allowed to view posts. Note: students are still able to log in and view their own posts, but they are not allowed to view other users’ posts.
Teacher only: Students may reader teachers’ posts
In this case, students may view teacher posts as well as their own posts. This setup could be used effectively as a private journal space where students can read posts and instructions from the teacher and “publish” private journal entries.
Comments
I would really like the option to be able to keep SOME students' posts private. Some of my students do not wish for their classmates to read their posts, but others do. Is there any way to make that possible?
Also-is there a way to make some of my posts private and others not? Or do my privacy settings have to apply to every post on the site (all or none)?
Amy,
You can make individual posts private by setting the post "visibility" option in the post editing screen. Hopefully that gives you the multiple visibility options that you need.
Hi There,
One of my parents was googling for our class blog to show a friend and brought it to my attention that eventhough I have all privacy settings on, the names of each of my students still are visible and the titles of their posts are visible. They cannot be read unless logged into, but I don't want any names visible to the public eye - Student safety is a big concern here.
I would like to know if there is a follow up to Sarah's question. I too want the usernames to remain hidden. Maybe just say "Student" or "Administrator" or "Guest" instead. Is this feature in the works?
